Yamana Gold Inc. faced significant hurdles with their on-premises backup solution, Commvault, spanning configuration management, backup job oversight, and restoration timeframes. These challenges presented obstacles that hindered their disaster recovery capabilities and posed limitations on the scalability initiatives vital for accommodating the company's evolving needs and growth trajectory. The complexities in managing configurations, monitoring backup jobs effectively, and reducing restoration times underscored the pressing need for a comprehensive overhaul of their backup infrastructure to ensure robust disaster recovery mechanisms and streamlined scalability pathways.

Our proposal entailed migrating Yamana Gold Inc.'s backup infrastructure to a Commvault setup hosted on AWS. By leveraging the multi-availability zone feature within AWS, we aimed to enhance the redundancy and scalability of their backup system. This migration to AWS offered improved fault tolerance through redundant data storage across different zones and provided the flexibility to scale resources dynamically based on workload demands. The utilisation of AWS infrastructure allowed for enhanced data protection, increased system reliability, and the ability to seamlessly expand storage capacity as needed, ensuring a robust disaster recovery framework and accommodating future growth requirements effectively.

Our client, a prominent crude oil refinery renowned for producing gasoline, jet fuel, diesel, heating oil, heavy fuel oils, propane, and asphalt for multinational corporations, recognised the need for enhanced insights and analytics derived from machine data and event logs. They set out to elevate these capabilities by implementing an automated response mechanism to improve operational efficiency and fortify security measures.

The client revolutionised their operational environment by harnessing the power of Splunk, a leading platform known for its robust big data analytics, monitoring capabilities, security features, and incident response tools. The customer unlocked invaluable insights through the strategic integration of Splunk across their infrastructure and the centralised aggregation of machine data, event logs, metrics, and network traces. These insights empowered them to optimise operational efficiencies, pre-emptively identify operational risks, thwart cybersecurity threats, and automate responses to promptly and efficiently counter known vulnerabilities.

Additionally, Trellix offered robust reporting features, enabling our client to showcase compliance with industry standards and regulations.
